Starting his own business in 1970, Don's Custom Cabinet Shop has been building custom kitchens in the Rapid City area for over 46 years. Still operating from the same location near the regional airport, we continue to provide the best value in kitchen cabinetry in the Black Hills Region.

We try to dispel the common misconception that custom equals expensive. 'Custom' means just that: We build to fit your specifications to the 1/8". Our versatility allows you to choose a high quality kitchen that prices near and many times under a prefabricated kitchen from the home 'discount' center, to one suited for upper-end homes.

Quality: Our cabinets, doors, & drawers are all hand-built, with attention paid to strength throughout.

Finish: Our finish technician has been staining and applying lacquer to cabinets for over 35 years. All finished surfaces are hand sanded before spraying the final coat(s).

Connected runs: We make uninterrupted runs up to 8' long where possible, and in any configuration of door/drawer sizes. This is particularly important on islands & peninsulas where you want a seamless back. This also makes for an easier installation.

Computer precision: Many of techniques that we use have been around for a generation, however new technology hasn't eluded us either. Your kitchen design will be entered on computer. We can provide 3D color renditions of your proposed kitchen for your review. Cabinet components are machined with a CNC router for accuracy & consistency.

Before we can answer the question "how much would this kitchen cost?", we have a lot of questions to ask you: We need to know rough measurements, wood species, door style, countertops, hardware, options, etc. Of course, a kitchen plan usually evolves a lot from the time we first meet to the final product, but we need to get started somewhere. We strive to provide as accurate estimate as possible, and never with any gimmicks. Have you ever priced a kitchen from a home center and been told you're receiving a 30, 50, or even 70% 'discount'?

Proper installation can be vital to the overall fit and appearance of your new kitchen. We can line up a qualified installer as an additional service for our kitchens. We have a direct interest in making sure that your kitchen's appearance is as good as it can be.

We are located ¾ mile north of Hwy. 44 on Radar Hill Road (which is 1 mile west of the airport turnoff). There are signs at the highway, and at the driveway.
